Two injured in firing, DC orders inquiry

Srinagar, Mar 8: The Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, Muneer-ul-Islam, today ordered inquiry into the firing incident in Aishmuqam in South Kashmir district of Anantnag.
The DC said that Army refused that their soldier opened fire on the protesters. “We have ordered inquiry in this regard and have formulated a team lead by Additional DC Ghulam Hassan Sheikh to investigate into the matter within 15 days,” he said.
Two youth were injured in firing allegedly by security forces in Ashmuqam area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
Security forces cordoned off the area and conducted searches following information about presence of militants in the village.
The residents clashed with security forces at Iram Colony, Ashmuqam in the wee hours of the morning by pelting stones at them.
Reports said that Army personnel allegedly opened fire on protesters resulted in the injuries of two youth.
The injured youth who were identified as Javaid Ahmad Wani, 22, a resident of Magray Mohalla and 20-year-old Amir Ahmad Sheikh were hospitalized.
Wani, who according to the reports received a bullet in his neck, has been shifted to Srinagar for treatment; while Sheikh was admitted at District Hospital Anantnag.
