JAMMU, Mar 8: Provincial President National Conference Devender Singh Rana today lambasted PDP for facilitating direct RSS rule in Jammu and Kashmir by showing indecisiveness in forming the Government.
“There is every apprehension of the BJP led Government appointing any RSS Pracharak as Governor of the State to trample the special identity of the State”, Mr Rana said while addressing senior party functionaries at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhavan here.
Citing unhealthy democratic practices unleashed by BJP appointed Governors in various States of the country, he feared the political uncertainty may lead to a situation where the current well-meaning, impartial and highly decorated and accomplished incumbent in the Raj Bhavan may be replaced by a person owing allegiance to Nagpur and Jhandewalla.
Describing Jammu and Kashmir as a politically sensitive State, the Provincial President said the legislative powers vested with the Governor can create a picquint situation if a person with motivated ideology replaces the current incumbent. “PDP will entirely be responsible for such an ugly development as its indecisiveness has potential of prolonging the political stalemate and gubernatorial rule”, he said.
Mr Rana charged PDP of bartering trust of electors and said if any political proprietary remains in its leadership, they should either form the Government or intimate the Governor accordingly so that process for snap polls can be initiated, as National Conference, being the third largest party as far as numbers in the Assembly are concerned, has already ruled out any possibility of its joining any alliance.
The Provincial President said the people of Jammu and Kashmir have a reason to feel deceived, as the PDP-BJP Government did not only fail in ten months but also plunged the State into unprecedented uncertainty. He blamed the duo for steering the state to a political morass due to lust for power and greed to accomplish their respective sinister agendas.
While hailing the Governor’s Administration for responsive and effective governance, Mr Rana asked if this dispensation can undertake Jhelum dredging, liquaidate employees GFP claims, taking Government to people’s door steps, why the PDP-BJP failed in taking any decision. Instead they remained in competition to generate controversies by inciting passions, headed.
The meeting had been convened to chalk out strategy for upcoming elections to Urban Local Bodies and Panchayats.
Mr Rana described these polls as crucial and significant to gauge public opinion vis-a-vis political development post 2014 elections. He hoped that the people will give a befitting reply to those who betrayed their trust.
Urging cadre to gear up for the big democratic exercise at grass root level, Senior State Vice President and former Minister Surjeet Singh Slathia said these polls assume immense significance as the local issues will straightway come under focus.
Chairman SC/OBC Cell and former Minister Babu Ram Pal exuded confidence that National Conference will register a big win in the elections to Jammu Municipal Corporation and other Urban Local Development bodies across the region as elsewhere in the State.
Emphasising huge role for youth in the upcoming civic elections, Provincial Youth National Conference President Ajaz Jan said a big opportunity is unfolding itself for enterprising and public spirited representative to serve the people with a sense of commitment.
