JAMMU, Mar 10: Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) has demanded enquiry by a retired justice of High Court into the alleged misappropriation of funds to the tune of Rs 40-50 lakh in the construction of a Multipurpose Community (MPC) hall at Batroo (Ramban) in the memory of Ex-Deputy Chief Minister, late DD Thakar.
Addressing a press conference here today, Khajur Singh, provincial vice-president, JKNPP, Jammu province and chairman, Panchayat Empowerment Committee, J&K, said that one Javed Wani, who was appointed an orderly on May 5, 1980 as per his service book was appointed work supervisor in the construction work of the Multipurpose Community hall at Batroo, just after three months on August 6, 1980 and afterwards as AEE in REW Wing of Rural Development Department, who with the connivance of other officials swindled the J&K Treasury with lakhs of rupees.
“The committee appointed to conduct the enquiry for utilizing the substandard material in the community hall has not submitted its report hitherto”, Singh said and pointed out that as per the letter of Executive Engineer, REW Ramban vide No XEN/REW/2015-16 dated 25-2-2016 written to Director, Rural Development, Jammu, there are fissures in the outer surface of the pillar due to use of substandard material and the building can collapse resulting into the casualities.

Terming the assault as dastardly act, Singh appealed Governor NN Vohra to appoint a retired justice to conduct the enquiry into the matter to bring to light the corruption, establish the rule of law and create a deterrent for punitive action.
