JAMMU, Mar 11: Advisor to Governor, Khurshid A Ganai today called upon the State’s youth to become job providers than job seekers.
Mr Ganai was speaking at a function organised by Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan Jammu at Press Club here in connection with the observance of 125th Birth Anniversary of Dr B R Ambedkar.
Mr Ganai said the technological advancement and new market economy has opened up huge employment generation avenues and the talented youth of Jammu and Kashmir should draw the maximum benefit out of the new opportunities around them, as is being done by their counterparts outside the State. “Instead of hankering after menial jobs, the youth should venture out to establish their own enterprises and create job opportunities not only for themselves but for others as well,” he said.
Paying rich tributes to Dr Ambedkar, the Advisor said the architect of our country’s constitution was a liberal and democrat to the core in thought and action. “Dr Ambedkar gave shape to our Constitution that promotes democratic values of justice, liberty, equality and fraternity, secularism and social justice,” he said and urged the youth to understand the essentiality of oneness of all religions, cultures and traditions, and above all unity in diversity.
Mr. Ganai also presented a cheque of Rs 1 lakh to the State Youth Club for outstanding contribution in youth development activities.
MLA R S Pura Gagan Bhagat also addressed the gathering.
Speaking on the occasion, Director General Youth Services and Sports, Jahangir Mir urged the youth to take part in sports and other athletic activities vigorously. He added that the department has introduced 18 new traditional sports activists in the annual sports calendar of this year.
Among other the convention was attended by Chairman, SC, ST Board, Bushan Dogra, President Press Club, Ashwani Kumar and Zonal Director NYK Sangathan J&K, Sukhdev Singh and other prominent personalities.
