NEW DELHI: President Pranab Mukherjee today inaugurated the week-long ‘festival of innovations’ at the Rashtrapati Bhavan here. The festival being organised in collaboration with the National Innovation Foundation (NIF) showcases 65 important innovations, a spokesperson for Rashtrapati Bhavan said. Mr Mukherjee after inaugurating the exhibition visited every stall and minutely examined the items at display.

He also showed keen interest in the functioning of various products. Union Minister for Science and Technology Dr Harshvardhan was also present on the occasion. Various workshops would be organised during the ongoing exhibition. Besides, group discussion on different subjects and prize distribution ceremony would also be organised during the event.

The exhibition will remain open between 1000 to 1700 hrs for the public. Those thronging the majestic Mughal gardens would also be able to enjoy the exhibition.

Also, there will be a keynote address by Nobel Laureate Kailash Satyarthi tomorrow, besides presentation of the Gandhian Young Technological Innovation (GYTI) Award.

On March 14, award in the category of Best ‘University’ to Tezpur University, Best ‘Innovation’ to Prof Rakesh Bhatnagar of Jawaharlal Nehru University(JNU) and outstanding research to Molecular Parasitology Group of JNU will be conferred. (AGENCIES)
