JAMMU, Mar 12: Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) today demolished the illegally constructed Trident Flats at Channi Rama.
As per official spokesperson, while continuing the drive vigorously against the unauthorized constructions within the jurisdiction of JMC, Mandeep Kaur Commissioner, JMC led the squad alongwith RS Jamwal, Joint Commissioner (A) and other senior officers and demolished the Trident Flats at Channi Rama by pressing the men and machinery into service.
The flats have been raised unauthorizedly as the construction raised was in gross violation of the building plans approved which was initially accorded for the construction of houses but the violators raised the multiple flats without the permission of JMC.
Thereafter, the premise was also sealed under section 8(1) of J&K Control of Building Operation Act, 1988.
JMC had already preceded against the violators namely Rahat Afridi, son of Israr Khan and Nighat Afridi under the provisions of J&K Control of Building Operation Act, 1988. The demolition and sealing operation has been conducted with the help and active cooperation of police force from police station Channi Himmat.
JMC had also given the public notice in the leading newspapers asking the general public not to purchase the flats in Trident being the unauthorized ones at Channi Rama near Nidheesh Apartment, Jammu.
As per the approved building bye laws-2011 the builder is required to get the completion/occupancy certificate from the JMC before putting the building in use. The sewer, water and electricity connection will be given to the builder by the respective departments only on the production of completion and occupancy certificate from JMC.
JMC appealed to the general public to refrain from raising unauthorized constructions failing which the penal action which may lead to sealing and demolition of unauthorized constructions.
