DODA, Mar 12: Police arrested a mechanic for raping a 13-year-old girl here.
As per police sources, a minor girl was alone at home, when a person barged into the house and raped her.
The accused threatened the girl of dire consequences if she revealed the incident to anyone.
After mustering courage, the girl informed the matter to her family members, who reported the matter to Police Post District Hospital Doda.
Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number 36/16 under Section 376 RPC was registered and manhunt was launched to nab the rapist.
On specific information, a team from Police Post District Hospital Doda conducted raid and arrested the accused, who has been identified as Bilal Ahmed, son of Tariq Hussain of Hamdanpur, District Doda. The accused works as a mechanic at a workshop nearby his house.
The girl has been restored to family members after conducting medical examination.
Further investigation into the case is going on.
Police team led by Incharge Police Post District Hospital Doda SI Ashiq Hussain made the arrest under the supervision of SHO Doda Inspector Uday Shanker, DySP Headquarters Doda Abdul Qayoom Runyal and SSP Doda ZA Manhas.
