Police organizes debate on human rights

Srinagar, Mar 12:  Police today organized a district level debate on human rights here at District Police Lines titled ‘Respect for human rights is respect of natural and constitutional laws of a responsible society’.
A police spokesman said 12 participants took part in the debate. “They were distributed in two groups: one group was to speak in favour of motion and other group was to speak against the motion. The debate was organized as a sequel to the annual programme which begins at district level and culminates at State level,” he said.
The spokesman said the aim of this annual exercise is to sensitize the policemen regarding human rights and to prevent there violation. The debate was monitored and supervised by a jury comprising of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Amit Kumar, SP South City Sandeep Chowdary , SP Headquarters Wasim Qadri, Chief Prosecuting Officer, Aijaz Ahmad Wani Chief Prosecuting officer Sub Inspector Manzoor Ahmad.
On the conclusion of the function, SSP Srinagar Amit Kumar said it was duty of ever policemen to uphold the human rights of each and every citizen and respect them by adhering to the Standard Operating Procedures while discharging different duties, the spokesman added.
