Cheryl defends mother after ‘unfair’ comments

LONDON, Mar 14:  Cheryl Fernandez-Versini has defended  her mother Joan Callaghan, after she was pictured accompanying her daughter and boyfriend Liam Payne on a night out earlier this week.
Cheryl and Payne were photographed together for the first time last week, holding hands while leaving a London restaurant and Joan could also be seen following behind the couple.
The pop star began by stating that she was not out for a “romantic dinner” and was instead celebrating friend Lily England’s 30th birthday.
The 32-year-old then went on to address the negative reports about her mother on Twitter.
“There have been a lot of unfair comments made about my Mam today and I have to clear a few things up in her defence,” Cheryl wrote.
“While I am extremely close to my Mam and respect her entirely, she does not and never has had any influence in any of my relationships. As a 32-year-old woman, I make my own decisions and choices and take full responsibility for them. To portray her the way some stories have today is unfair, hurtful and untrue.” (PTI)
