SRINAGAR, Mar 15: Over one and a half year has passed since devastating floods struck Kashmir but the damaged building of newly constructed court complex in South Kashmir’s Pampore Town still awaits restoration.
The Court complex suffered heavy damage in the devastating floods of 2014 and the Court is presently sharing its old building with the Municipal Committee Pampore and both are operating under a single roof.
With an estimated cost of Rs. 240 lakhs, the Jammu and Kashmir Project Construction Corporation completed the construction work of a new court complex at Frestabal in  Pampore and in October 2012, the  Munsif Court at Pampore was shifted to this newly constructed complex situated  near sports field, Tancha Bagh, at Frestabal  Pampore.
Munsif Judicial Magistrate, Adil Mushtaq, said they worked there for nearly one year but it was devastated by the floods. “Now we are waiting for its renovation which is presently stalled. Once the building is restored we will shift immediately,” he said.
A senior advocate, Mudasir Ahmad, said the two departments are working in the court building. “It is congested and there is no bar room, no library and no waiting hall for the complainants. I don’t understand the reasons behind this negligence.”
Deputy Manager Roads and Buildings, Ishtaq Malik, said four months ago they surveyed the building and sent the overall estimate of renovation to the judiciary but for unknown reasons they have not received the approval so far. “We are ready and once the approval comes we will start the work,” he said.
