SRINAGAR, Mar 15: In the aftermath of Finance Minister’s statement in Parliament, Kashmir Economic Alliance (KEA) headed by Mohammad Yaseen Khan today expressed hope that the Government of India would take practical initiatives in order to bring back the “dented” economy of State back on track.
Reacting to the the Finance Minister Arun Jaitley’s statement on Monday wherein he said the Center was willing to walk an extra mile for Jammu and Kashmir, the KEA said they believe that it seems to be a step towards realizing the plight of the people of the State.
“We presume that walking an extra mile means that the prevailing political uncertainty in the state would be addressed, our economic sectors like horticulture, handicrafts, tourism, forests, industry and other sectors of economy would be revived and strengthened and our power projects would be returned,” said Muhammad Yaseen Khan.
He also hoped that the Centre would revoke AFSPA and other laws like Disturbed Areas Act and security forces would be made more accountable, and adequate financial assistance will be extended without considerations and bias. “If the government of India walks an extra mile in the spirit and manner as envisaged by KEA, it would be a step towards better understanding,” he said.
