CAPD workers suspend strike

JAMMU, Mar 15: The food and allied workers  of CAPD department  today suspended their 15 day long strike, after assurance by the Governor’s Advisor  and Divisional Commissioner Jammu during a meeting of officials with the representatives of Food and Allied Workers  Union here today.
Official sources said that with the intervention Governor’s Advisor a marathon meeting of officials was held with the Union members who are on  strike for the last two weeks. From Government’s side, Director CAPD GS Chib, Joint Director CAPD MS Choudhary, Additional District Magistrate  Arun Manhas, Assistant Director Trade & Stores Jammu Ajay Salaan while from Union side Bishan Dass, president Food and Allied Workers Union  and Vijay Kumar FCI Workers Union and others attended the meeting.
After thorough discussions on the pending demands of the workers and also telephonic conversation  with the Divisional Commissioner Jammu and Advisor Parvez Dewan, the  workers resolved to suspend the agitation. The Union members were told that their genuine demands will be resolved in time bound manner. The Union leaders declared that from tomorrow onwards all the workers will resume their normal work in the CAPD stores.
