JAMMU, Mar 15: Speaker, Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta today convened a meeting with the officers of the Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CA&PD) Department to review the availability of rations in the State.
Legislators, Sat Sharma, Bali Bhagat, Priya Sethi and Rajesh Gupta were present in the meeting.
Threadbare discussions were held on different issues pertaining to distribution of food-grains following implementation of NFSA regime.
Speaker asked the concerned officers to convene periodic meetings at grassroots level to redress the grievances of the consumers.
The meeting was informed that the ration quota of all the dealers till January, this year has been cleared and rest of the quota is being cleared before March 31, 2016.
The meeting was also informed that the issue of distribution of wheat instead of flour in cities and towns has already been taken up with the administration.
Various other issues including issuance of ration cards were also discussed in the meeting.
Special Secretary, CA&PD, Director, CA&PD, Jammu besides senior officers of concerned department and Assembly Secretariat were also present in the meeting.
