Press Club Jammu signs MoU with CUJ for academic exchange

JAMMU, Mar 16:  Taking yet another historic step towards providing more opportunities to the members of the journalist community to  hone their skills,  Press Club of Jammu  has signed first ever Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Department of Mass Communication and New Media (MCNM), Central University, Jammu.
The MoU was signed by Ashwani Kumar, president of Press Club Jammu and Jit Singh, Registrar, Central University of Jammu, here today, in the presence of CUJ Vice-Chancellor Prof Ashok Aima, PCJ Management Committee members and senior faculty members of the university.
Speaking on the occasion,   Ashwani Kumar said, the main objective behind signing the MoU was fostering academic exchange and partnership for furthering research and training. He complimented CUJ VC Prof Ashok Aima for taking this historic decision of entering in to a partnership with the Press Club of Jammu.
Ashwani Kumar said this relationship will go a long way in helping members of the journalist community and budding students of Mass Communication to hone their skill set.  He said special interaction sessions between journalist members and researchers from the Central University can be organized.
After the signing of the MoU, journalist members can regularly visit to deliver guest lectures on topics of current affairs and attend seminars and agenda specific conferences.
Zorawar Singh Jamwal, secretary general PCJ, too expressed happiness over joining hands of CUJ with the Press Club of Jammu for shaping career of budding journalists currently, admitted in Mass Communication program.
Prof Ashok Aima said, students of Central University studying in the Department of Mass Communication and New Media, would get hands on training and enroll themselves for internship and placement in different media houses.
He said Mass Communication students will get practical experience by attending press conferences at Press Club of Jammu and  will be involved in special assignments and research work in border areas.
