Fisheries Deptt organizes awareness programme

JAMMU, Mar 16: To provide technical guidelines for promotion of composite Fish Culture in the region, Department of Fisheries organised one day Awareness Programme under Centrally Sponsored Scheme “‘State Extension Programme for Extension Reforms ATMA Sub-Mission on Agriculture Intension (SAME)” at Ornamental Fish Farm Doomi, Akhnoor.
The fish farmers and registered fishermen from areas of Marh, Bhalwal, Akhnoor, Khour, Pargwal, R.S.Pura, Bishnah participated in the awareness programme.
Addressing the gathering, Assistant Director Fisheries, Lal Hussian gave brief introduction about composite Fish Culture, latest technique adopted for Fish Culture, Fish Pond management, Fish Diseases and their control and the importance of the Awareness Programme.
Various welfare schemes like provision of Insurance cover up to Rs one lakh, Low Cost Houses under Centrally Sponsored Schemes  (CSS) amounting to Rs 75000 per unit and providing Nylon Twine to registered Fishermen (through Social Welfare Department), were apprised to the fishermen. These schemes will help the poor fishermen community for the upliftment of their economic status and living standard.
In training programme, the progressive fish farmers highlighted their achievements made in Fish Culture under the scheme. They demanded availability of fish seed in time, provision of repair and renovation of private fish ponds. The concerned officer assured them that their demands will be recommended to concerned authorities for earlier redressal.
Inspector Fisheries, Jagmohan Singh gave brief presentation on Fish Culture and apprised the fish farmers about the importance of Fish Culture in private sector.
Among others participated in the Awareness Programme include Inspector Fisheries, Akhnoor, R K Moza, FDA (Ext) Jatinderpal Singh, Kuldeep Raj and others.
