One killed, four injured in road accidents

JAMMU, Mar 16: A man was killed while four others were injured today in separate road mishaps in various parts of the district.
According to a police spokesman, today at about 7:30 pm, a Swift car bearing registration number JK02AK-0852, which was on its way from Akhnoor to Bale-da-bagh in a rash and negligent manner hit a motorcycle bearing registration number JK02X- 4853 and also two pedestrians namely Balwan Singh son of Om Parkash and Surinder Singh son of Mela Ram, both residents of Patyadi (Bale-da-bagh).
He said in the mishap, Balwan Singh was killed on the spot while Surinder Singh got injured. The body of the deceased was kept in mortuary room of SDH Akhnoor while the injured was referred to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu from SDH Akhnoor, where he was shifted immediately after accident. The spokesman said that due to the accident the motorcycle caught fire and burnt completely. A case in this connection was registered at police Station Akhnoor and further investigations were underway.
At City Chowk in this winter capital of the State, a Safai Karamchari identified as Raju (42) son of Roop Lal, a resident of Christian Colony, got injured when a van bearing registration number JK02AN-4074 hit him while he was sweeping the road. The injured was shifted to GMCH Jammu for treatment. The police had registered a case and seized the vehicle involved in the mishap.
In Bus Stand area, a car hit a scooty and injured its rider identified as Amit Kumar (21) son of Raj Kumar, a resident of Durga Nagar. Amit was also shifted to GMCH for treatment.
A youth identified as Sammi Dogra (20) son of Darshan Lal, a resident of Bari- Brahamana also received injuries when the bike on which he was travelling got slipped in Akhnoor area. He was also taken to GMCH for treatment.
