SRINAGAR, Mar 17: Describing the attack on Students from J&K, in Mewar University of Rajasthan by some right wing activists as worrying factor for the students and parents, besides profiling of students and businessmen in West Bengal and elsewhere merely on the grounds of being the residents of J&K, as unfortunate, JKPCC Chief GA Mir has asked the Central Govt to take cognizance as to why students from J&K, only, are being harassed on pretexts.
PCC chief asked Central Govt to ensure safety of the JK students and businessmen. He said the attacks on JK students in Mewar University by right wing activists on pretexts in Rajasthan, was aiming to create fear psychosis among the students by them. He urged upon the Central Govt to take cognizance of the matter and ensure that the career of students is not ruined.
Mir expressed serious concern over the harassment of students and said that such type of incidents are being encouraged by right wing activists to implement their communal agenda in the Country. He said Centre Govt should not allow this to happen, in the larger interests of Indian democracy and contain the elements trying to disturb the democratic set up in the country, he said.
PCC chief also sought clarity from Union Govt about the advisory issued by the MHA regarding students of J&K. He said instead of ensuring protection of students and businessmen, MHA has engaged itself in profiling of students, which is not only unfortunate, but objectionable.
