JAMMU, Mar 17: The State unit of BJP strongly rejected the allegations of former Chief Minister & working president of National Conference (NC), Omar Abdullah, wherein he has tried to mislead the general public saying that PDP-BJP Government had withheld relief, development funds to persecute people.
In a statement issued here today BJP State general secretary Dr. Narinder Singh, while terming these allegations as outcome of mere frustration, said that Omar Abdullah seems to lack information related to the funds for development in the State.
He said that whatever the NC leader has said is false and an attempt to mislead the people, which has become a routine practice of the leaders of political parties, including Congress, NC and Panthers Party. BJP, since day first, had focussed on providing adequate relief to the flood affected people, he added.
Dr. Narinder Singh reminded NC leader that for the first time in the history of Jammu and Kashmir, a huge package of Rs eighty thousand crore was provided by Narendra Modi Government while it was PDP-BJP coalition in the State. “Our coalition had convinced the Union Government for such a huge package, which included funds for relief and development, Dr. Singh said and added that the BJP as a party also had stressed upon the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to sanction number of prestigious developmental projects and welfare schemes for the State while giving due share to every region.
Dr. Singh further refreshed the memory of Omar Abdullah that it was in fact NC, which had been opportunist for the lust of chair and the history is witness that Omar Abdullah embraced BJP and became Union Minister of State for Foreign Affairs during Atal Behari Vajpayee led Government. He said that BJP had sought votes on the slogan of good governance and development and while sharing coalition for ten months in the State, not a single case of corruption took place and number of developmental activities were initiated.
BJP State general secretary cautioned the people of the State not to get misled by the leaders like Omar Abdullah as they have nothing to claim while they themselves were in power and now are out in public to regain the lost ground as the elections of Urban Local Bodies and Panchayats are on the corner.
