DOORU, Mar 17: National Conference today lashed out at PDP for bartering the State’s sense of self-respect and dignity in exchange for power and said the overwhelming resentment against the party throughout the State was a loud and clear indication of PDP’s political rout.
Addressing party workers at a function, held in Dooru, Anantnag, to observe the 2nd death anniversary of NC leader Mohammad Akbar Ganai, NC provincial president Nasir Aslam Wani said the State had been pushed into political uncertainty and instability by the PDP-BJP alliance.
On this occasion, the party leaders also paid glowing tributes to senior NC leader and former Speaker of Legislative Assembly, Wali Mohammad Ittoo on his 22nd death anniversary.
“The PDP-BJP alliance brought with it an unprecedented array of challenges to the State’s honour and dignity. This alliance questioned the sanctity of our State flag and wreaked havoc with the developmental gains made by the previous Omar Abdullah Government. Having ascended to power on the basis of lies, deceit and false propaganda, the PDP-BJP Government has turned out to be a complete nightmare for the people of the State”, the NC provincial president said.
Nasir Wani stressed that NC believed in the politics of dignity and would never compromise on the State’s interests and the sentiments of the people. “National Conference is the only political force that can salvage the State from this situation of hopelessness and offer an alternative of inclusive, strong and principled politics”, he added.
On the occasion, the NC provincial president also appealed to the Governor to ensure that ration reaches every ration depot across the State and the quota is further increased with less and more realistic rates.
NC South Zone president, Sakina Ittoo, district president Kulgam and MLA Homshalibug, Abdul Majeed Bhat, MLCs Dr Bashir Ahmed Veeri and Showkat Ahmed Ganai, district president Anantnag Dr Mohammad Shafi, NC provincial spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar and others also addressed the gathering.
