Workshop on ‘Trends & Innovations in Energy Management’ organized

JAMMU, Mar 18: Department of Environmental Sciences, University of Jammu, in collaboration with J&K Science and Technology and Innovation,  organized one day workshop/awareness programme on the theme “Concept of Trends and Innovations in Energy Management” in order to mark the celebrations of National Science Day.
Prof A K Raina, Head, Department of Environmental Sciences, JU, briefly introduced the theme of the workshop. He also highlighted the importance of energy management and conservation in our day to day life.
Prof Pankaj Srivastava, Dean Students Welfare, JU and chief guest on the occasion, spoke at length about various measures that can be used to control and reduce the organization’s energy consumption pattern with special emphasis on Jammu University Campus.
The first technical session started with an expert lecture by Prof G M Bhat, Department of Geology & Rector Bharderwah Campus wherein he spoke about various issues related to climate change and provided with simple solutions to combat climate change through the management of energy resources. In second technical Session, Majjad Farooq, Scientific Officer, Directorate of Ecology, Environment and Remote Sensing, stressed on the need to switch over to solar energy in J&K State as it has high solar energy potential. In his presentation, he discussed various case studies related to innovations in energy management from various parts of the world which could very easily be applied in our daily lives.
The overall programme was coordinated by Shruti Khanna, Department of S&T Innovation Council and Dr Deepika Slathia, Department of Environmental Sciences, University of Jammu.
