SRINAGAR, Mar 18: 20th postgraduate (PG) research presentation program was inaugurated today at SKIMS auditorium.
The event was of great academic importance held annually in SKIMS in which postgraduate, post-doctoral and PhD students of SKIMS Soura, SKIMS Medical College Bemina and GMC Srinagar presented research papers on varied topics.
Today, during various scientific sessions, research papers presented by students focused on common and prevailing conditions in Kashmir such as hepatitis, colorectal cancer, gastric cancer, abdominal injuries among children, road accidents and so on.
Director SKIMS/EOSG, Dr Showkat Zargar, who was the chief guest on the occasion, in his speech stressed for original research and warned of severe consequences of any plagiarism. “I am optimistic that innovations through research will make common man the beneficiary of these achievements and help in improving patient care system which is top priority of SKIMS”, he added.
Dean of Medical Faculty, Dr Gul Javid, threw light on various academic achievements of the institution. He said recently fellowship in Colorectal Cancer and PhD in Nursing sciences has been approved by Deans committee held recently in Jammu.
Dr Omar Javid Shah, organizing chairman and HoD Surgical Gastroenterology, said that the academic event provides open platform to all postgraduate, post-doctoral students to share, communicate or support already existing phenomenas.
Organising secretary of the event, Dr Sadaf Ali, Professor, Surgical Gastroenterology, in her welcome speech informed that 120 research papers will be presented and the best three research papers will be awarded.
