RPO announces Passport awareness campaign from Apr

JAMMU, Mar 19: As the first Passport Mela of the year was successfully held here today,   the Regional Passport Officer, Vimarsh Aryan announced a special Passport Awareness Campaign at district level from next month.
“In view of misinformation and lack of knowledge on Passport processing, especially in far-flung areas of the Jammu region, Passport Awareness Camps will be organized at District headquarters of Jammu region where our people will aware about the processing so that general public may be benefitted,” he said while talking to media persons during the inaugural of Passport Mela at Regional Passport Office Jammu.
During the Passport Mela, around 300 applications were processed and the applicants, mostly students and senior citizens from different areas, availed this opportunity.
Parvez Dewan, Advisor to Governor, also visited the Regional Passport Office and appreciated the Mela arrangements, made for facilitating the applicants    to process their Passport cases on first day itself.
According to Mr Aryan, who inaugurated the Mela, this was the first event in the series of similar 8-10 Melas that have been scheduled subsequently to cater to the needs of Passport applicants from entire Jammu region.
“We want to make it (Mela) a practice for benefit of the people in remote areas, who face difficulties because of problems in accessibility,” the RPO said and added that all out efforts were being made to ensure that people may get Passport easily and early.
