BHADERWAH, Mar 19: Hundreds of people including women and children took to streets here over the alleged rape and murder of a minor kidnapped girl, whose body was found from forest area near Halia Nallah in Runta village yesterday.
On the bandh call given by President Sanatan Dharam Sabha Ashok Kotwal, large number of people from the minority community including shopkeepers assembled at Seri Bazaar here today.
They held protest and demanded immediate arrest of the accused, behind the killing of the minor girl, who was kidnapped on March 16 and later allegedly raped and killed.
The protesters stated that the family members went to police station on March 17 to lodge the missing complaint, but the police officers including Munshi failed to lodge the complaint.
When some of the prominent persons of the area intervened then a case under FIR Number 22/16 under Section 363 RPC was registered at Bhaderwah police station, they said, adding that delay in the registration of the case and lethargic approach of the police resulted into the loss of precious life.
“Had the police intervened and started hunt to trace out the minor girl timely, the life of the minor could have been saved”, they added.
The protesters added that the area from where the girl’s body was found was already searched by the family members and relatives on the day when the deceased went missing, then how it is possible that after two days, her body could be there. It is clear cut case of murder and police should take stern action against the accused, so that no one dares to think of such kind of activities in future, the protesters maintained.
They also demanded immediate suspension of the Munshi posted in Bhaderwah police station for delay in lodging the missing complaint about the girl.
When contacted, SSP Doda, ZN Manhas told the Excelsior that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been constituted to probe the allegations leveled by the deceased’s family.
The team will be headed by ASP Bhaderwah, while SHO Bhaderwah Inspector Jatinder Singh Sambyal, one Sub Inspector Mohammad Latieef and a Head Constable Riyaz Ahmed will assist him, he said and asserted that strict action will be taken, whosoever will be found guilty.
As reported, a class 12th student Anjali Devi (17), daughter of Chain Singh, a resident of Runta left her house after having some altercation with her elder sister on March 16. The girl was found hanging with a tree in the jungle area around 2 kilometers far from her house yesterday afternoon.
The family members of the minor girl alleged that their daughter has been kidnapped, raped and murdered by a youth Nasir, son of Nazir Ahmed, a resident of Nai Basti near Kuneja area. The person was detained by the police for questioning.
