Army extends helping hand to veterans, their families

JAMMU, Mar 19: Fulfilling its resolve and commitment to look after the welfare and well being of veterans, Army today provided financial assistance to veterans and elderly widows of deceased soldiers of Pargwal area of Akhnoor for repair of houses, severely damaged last year due to inclement weather.
The affected individuals had approached the Army authorities deployed at Pargwal and Chenab Brigade for financial assistance. The Army authorities acted proactively to assist the veterans and their families wherein financial assistance was provided to a veteran and two elderly widows by the Rising Star Corps.
In a ceremony organized at Pargwal for veterans and village heads, cheques of Rs 30,000, Rs 40,000 and Rs 50,000 were personally handed over by the General Officer Commanding, Tiger Division, Major General Sanjeev Narain to Sepoy Kehar Singh (retired), Bimla Devi (widow of late Sepoy Braham Dev) and Kamla Devi (widow of late Lance Naik Jamit Singh), respectively.
