One commits suicide, four injured in road accident

JAMMU, Mar 19: A youth committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance at Akhnoor while four persons were injured today in a road accident in Nagrota area of city outskirts.
According to a police spokesperson, a youth identified as Yashpal (25) son of Pappa Ram, a resident of Nai Basti (Akhnoor) allegedly consumed some poisonous substance at his residence during the intervening night of March 18 and 19 after which he was taken to Sub District Hospital for treatment. However, this morning doctors at SDH Akhnoor referred him to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where he expired during treatment.
After completing all medico-legal formalities, the body of the deceased was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites. A case in this connection was registered at police station Akhnoor and investigations started to ascertain why the deceased took such extreme step.
Meanwhile, at Jagti in Nagrota area of city outskirts, two cars collided with each other this morning resulting into injuries to four persons including two children. The injured persons identified as Forest Guard, Nazir Ali (posted at Karli check post, Nagrota), Sunita Devi (40) wife of Romesh Chander, a resident of Chibba (Nagrota), her son Harsh Dev (14) and daughter, Anisha (7) were shifted to GMCH for treatment. The concerned police has taken cognizance of the matter.
