7 houses damaged due to landslides,11 families evacuated in central Kashmir

SRINAGAR: Seven houses were damaged due to landslides, triggered by incessant rain in the central Kashmir district of Ganderbal, where 11 families were rescued and shifted to safer places.

A police spokesman said here this afternoon that a retaining wall at village Rangil collapsed, causing damage to two nearby residential houses of Abdul Qadir and Abdul Hamid Mir.

Both the families were shifted to safer places. However, no one was injured. Due to major landslide at Wanyarm Wangth residential houses of Rehman Shah Paktoon, Mohammad Ayoub Bhat, Lateef Bhat, Abdul Satar Paswal and Mohammad Qasim Paswal got damaged.

However, the inmates escaped unhurt, he said, adding that police later evacuated nine families from this place to safer locations. (AGENCIES)
