DB’s directive to Railways on PRS

JAMMU, Mar 22: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Advocate B S Manhas seeking facility of Passenger Reservation System (PRS) within the complexes of High Court, Division Bench of State High Court comprising Chief Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar and Justice Tashi Rabstan has directed Railway authorities to consider the request within a period of 12 weeks.
According to the petitioner, the Passenger Reservation Service (PRS) is already available in the complexes of several courts of the country such as Supreme Court; Delhi High Court, , District Court Delhi, High Court of Patna, High Court of Allahabad, Punjab & Haryana High Court at Chandigarh, Rajasthan High Court at Jaipur, Andhara Pradesh High Court at Hyderabad; Madras High Court at Chennai.
As per the petition, Jammu Railway Station is having so much rush due to pilgrimage to Vaishno Devi Shrine and Advocates and court staff have to stand in the long queues for hours together for getting train tickets.
