BUDGAM, Mar 22: In connection with ongoing SaMaPa Festival a function was organised at Chrar-i- Sharief town.
During the event the speakers urged the need to imbibe spirit among the youth to protect, preserve and promote the centuries old Kashmiri ethos , embedded in Sufi poetry and Kashmiri music. It was observed that Kashmiri youth have tremendous talent and potential which needs to be exploited and polished optimally.
District Development Commissioner, Budgam, Mir Altaf Ahmad was chief guest on the occasion. He extended gratitude to Patron of SaMaPa Pandit Bhajan Sopori , for providing platform to the Kashmiri youth to enable them give vent to their talent in diverse fields of Kashmiri art , culture and classical music.
Former Additional Director Doordarshan Srinagar, Rafiq Masoodi in his speech dwelt in length about the richness of Kashmiri heritage and advised the talented youth to avail the benefit of the platform, provided by SaMaPa to exhibit their talent.
Pandit Bhajan Sopori said that Kashmiri culture and Sufi thought has perfection and world wide appeal which should be preserved in its true form.
Besides some prominent Kashmiri Sufi singers Yousf Chrari and Bashir Chrari , some new singers including Kifayat Faheem, Local youth, Shahnaaz Gul and Ishtiyaq Tulla perfomed on the stage.
