JAMMU, Mar 25: Pledging to carry forward Mufti’s vision towards nomadic people, former Minister and Member Legislative Assembly Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali has said that new Government will deliver justice to the deprived community of Gujjar and Bakerwals.
Addressing a meeting of J&K Gujjar Bakerwal Conference at Jammu, Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali said former Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed had great vision for changing the situation of nomadic people of this State and the legacy of Mufti will be continued and the vision will be carried forward for fulfillment of the dream of great leader.
He said that Tribal Ministry has become big platform to project the demands of the tribal community and the credit of creation of this Ministry goes to Mufti who was sincere in changing the life style of the Gujjars and Bakerwals.
Assuring justice, Zulfkar Ali said that new Government will definitely resolve the matter of Forest rights to Gujjars and Bakerwals. He said that Forest Right Act has already implemented in whole India except J&K State and there is a constant demand of nomadic tribal community of this State for implementation of the act in the State. He assured that Mufti’s dream will be realized and Gujjars will get justice soon.
Meanwhile, Haji Mohammad Yousaf, president of JKGBC, Haji Nizam-ud-Din Khatana, former MLC, Chowdhary Salam-ud-Din of Kupwara, Choudhary Mohammad Yaseen Poswal of Pulwama, Choudhary Gulzar Khatana, Choudhary Nazakat Khatana and other leaders projected various demands of Gujjar and Bakerwal community.
They raised the issue of permanent settlement of landless Gujjars. They said that this community deserved to be rehabilitated so that they live comfortable life. They added that a rehabilitation policy is needed and State Government must come up with a policy for the permanent settlement of the nomadic population.
It was also decided on the occasion that JKGBC will hold a convention at Jammu on April 9 to discuss demands of the community. In the end, JKGBC president appealed the community members to participate in large number in the convention and putforth their problems and other demands.
