JAMMU, Mar 26: A constructive and meaningful interaction took place in the border tehsil of Ramgarh between veteran community and Director Rajya Sainik Board, Brig (retd) Harcharan Singh.
Over 300 veterans and Veer Naris attended the meet whose objective was to spread the awareness of various entitlements to Veterans, Veer Naris, differently abled soldiers and their wards by Kendriya Sainik Board and Rajya Sainik Board.
Director Rajya Sainik Board, Brig Harcharan Singh in his address said the State hierarchy in particular the Governor N N Vohra has welfare of veterans and their families as a top priority. He emphasized that unified approach is required to be adopted and implemented to ensure that veterans and their families get their dues in minimum time frame. Director informed that computerization and digitalization of all Zila Sainik Welfare offices is being done to ensure that proper data base is maintained aimed at providing a timely and foolproof service.
The improvement of facilities for Veterans and their families too has been planned to ensure a relax and conducive environment with increased efficiency while Veterans and their families visit various offices in the State.
The Director also brought out that a proactive approach is being adopted by the Directorate and all Zila Sainik Welfare offices by increasing the frequency of meeting to enhance the bondage and sense of belonging. He highlighted the salient points of his recent meeting with Northern Army Commander where an encouraging response was received on the projected points of medical and canteen facilities in the border and remote areas of veterans and their families.
