JAMMU, Mar 26: A series of Art workshops for the students of KC Public School was held in the Art Arcade of the school from March 22 , concluded here today.
The workshops were conducted by two artists from Adelaide, Australia and two eminent local artists from Jammu.
Nicholas Hanisch and Alex Mullen are young and gifted graduates from Adelaide Central School of Art and hold degrees in Visual Arts. They work for Floating Goose Studios, Adelaide, South Australia. They took three joint workshops and taught the students some creative techniques in painting in drawing. The most impressive demonstrations they gave were in the use of charcoal pencils and crayons in making portraits and landscapes.
Students of KCPS took to this medium for the first time and came out with some interesting portraits during these workshops. Nicolas and Alex also completed some drawings and paintings during their interactive workshops which they gifted to the Art Gallery of the school.
Vikas Dogra, a gifted local artist from GMC, took two workshops and taught the students some pragmatic artistic skills such as designing T-shirts and embellishing picture frames. Students in the course of his workshop did some interesting work of designing their own T-shirts and photo frames. Manoj Chopra is a distinguished caricature artist from Jammu. During his two workshops, he demonstrated simple but extremely effective techniques to draw cartoons and create humour through art work. Students were deeply impressed with his skills as a cartoonist and enjoyed his workshops a great deal.
The four days workshops concluded with a simple valedictory function held inside the school Art Gallery.
Raju Chowdhary, Chairman of KC Educational Society graced the occasion with his presence and gave away certificates and mementos to the artists. The artists, in turn, gave away participation certificates to all the students who attended the workshops and to those whose work features in the school Art Gallery.
