JAMMU, Mar 27: First Annual Jammu Trauma meet was organized today by Department of Orthopedics, Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, here.
The meet was inaugurated by chief guest, Dr Zahid Gillani, Principal, GMC Jammu. More than 100 orthopedic surgeons from J&K, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana and Delhi attended the meet.
During the meet, Dr Ramesh Sen from Chandigarh elaborated on management of Pelvic Trauma patients while Dr Maheshwari and Dr Ritab Mittal from Delhi gave talks on treatment of shoulder, hip and elbow injuries.
Dr Bobby John, Principal, CMC, Ludhiana, spoke on management of patients with multiple trauma on roadside whereas Dr Awasthi from Tanda spoke about radiation exposure.
Dr Altaf from Bone and Joint Hospital, Srinagar and Dr Shabbir Dhar from SKIMS, gave advice on treatment of neglected fractures. Lectures were also given by various faculty members.
All delegates had an elaborated discussion on treatment modalities of trauma patients. Besides, consensus on treatment protocols was arrived at and management protocols were reviewed.
The meet helped senior orthopedic doctors from various hospitals in periphery of J&K as well as from the city in learning latest techniques in management of trauma patients.
It was emphasized through the meet that all kind of trauma patients can be managed well in Jammu region at local level and that there is no need to panic in case of any trauma. Patients do not need to go outside the State for any treatment as all facilities are available in Jammu itself.
