SRINAGAR, Mar 28: Financial Commissioner Revenue (FCR) Pramod Kumar Jain today took review meetings with senior revenue officers, Chowkidars and Lamberdars to review the progress and functioning of the department here today.
District Development Commissioner, Srinagar, Dr Farooq Ahmad Lone, Tehsildars, Naib Tehsildars, Girdawars, Patwaris, Numberdars and Chowkidars among other officers attended the meeting.
Mr. Jain stressed upon officials of the department to revitalise Revenue Department, saying that the provision of awards for best performing Patwaris, Girdawars and Naib Tehsildars shall be made to improve their performance.  He said schedule calendar for Patwaris and Giradawars should be rolled out to ensure their availability for public at their respective patwar halqas.
He also directed to expedite disposal of court cases, land acquisition and updation of revenue record with special emphasis on conduct of upcoming Girdawari as per standing orders.
Jain said that requisite measures would be taken to safeguard the old and new revenue records and exhorted upon revenue officers/ officials to take innovative steps including use of Information Technology to improve their working.
Later, the Financial Commissioner also held meeting with Numberdars and Chowkidars and heard their issues including enhancement of honorarium and uniform allowance. He directed the concerned officers of Revenue Department to conduct Jamabandies of areas of Srinagar district during the current fiscal. He also directed the Patwaris to sit in a notified office building for two days in a week for ensuring prompt service delivery.
Earlier DDC, Srinagar, Dr Farooq Ahmad Lone gave a brief presentation regarding functioning of Revenue Department.
Other issues like status of court work, pending mutation, land acquisition cases, DPCs and status of disposal of vigilance complaints were also discussed during the meeting. The Financial Commissioner stressed on time bound disposal of vigilance complaints to improve transparency and accountability in the system.
He stressed upon the concerned officers to make concerted efforts to streamline the functioning of the department especially by maintaining proper liaison with the field functionaries who are real link with the people at the grassroot level.
