Army organizes med-cum-vet camp in Shopian

SRINAGAR, Mar 28: Army today organised a free medical-cum-veterinary camp at Wachi village of South Kashmir’s Shopian district.
A defence spokesman said the aim of camp was to reach out to the people of the remote areas and cater to their medical needs and spread health awareness including importance of hygiene and sanitation.
“The medical cum veterinary camp was organised keeping in view the demands of the local population comprising mostly of Wachi and nearby remote areas where the populace have to travel long distances for health care facilities,” he said.
The spokesman said a team comprising of both Army and civil doctors provided medical assistance to the locals and their livestock. “A total of 450 civilians including children and women and 215 livestock (approximately) were provided medical assistances on the sidelines of the camp,” he said.
Various employment opportunities available for youth of the area were also explained to the populace by putting up stalls by the Tourism, Banking and Agriculture sector, he said, adding that the camp was a grand success where hundreds of needy villagers availed the medical facilities at their doorstep.
