Six robbers held, stolen property recovered

SRINAGAR, Mar 28: Police today said it have arrested six robbers and recovered stolen property worth lakhs on their instance in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
A police spokesman said on March 24 police arrested Ali Mohammad Bhat in Tangmarg area of the district after receiving reliable information that the accused was doing business of stolen shawls.
“An investigation team after registration of a case under FIR number 28/16 under Section 379,411 RPC started investigation into the case,” he said, adding that during questioning Ali Mohammad Bhat divulged the information that led to the arrest of Mehrajudin Rather, Muzaffar Ahmad Khan and Rayees Ahmad Khan.
“The investigating team recovered 540 shawls worth rupees fifty lakhs and eighty thousand besides, six generators valuing rupees five lakhs on the instance of the arrested robbers,” he said.
The spokesman said these robbers had stolen these valuable items during the past several months at different places. “Further investigation in this regard is going on,” he added.
