SRINAGAR, Mar 31: Army today dedicated another ‘Chinar 9 Jawan Club’ to people in during a befitting ceremony at Chowkibal in border district of Kupwara.
A defence spokesman said the club was inaugurated by the Chinar Corps Commander, Lt Gen Satish Dua, under whose personal guidance the concept of ‘Chinar 9 Jawan Club’ was evolved.
“‘Chinar 9 Jawan Clubs’ have been dedicated to the people of Valley to channelise the aspirations of youth in a constructive manner and provide multi faceted platform for their overall growth,” the spokesman said.
He said the ‘Chinar 9 Jawan Club’ offers the facilities including internet cafe, outdoor gymnasium, Volleyball and basketball courts dovetailed with indoor recreational and educative facilities such as snooker, carrom, video games and library.
“The Chinar 9 Jawan Clubs are being opened by the Army towards the development of youth throughout the Valley. Similar clubs are already functional in Anantnag and Pattan. These clubs provide a platform which will not only offer recreational facilities but will also help the youth to develop certain skills and gain knowledge of related opportunities,” he said.
The Chinar Corps Commander Lt Gen Satish Dua complimented the youth for their grit, determination, high spirit and overwhelming participation. He expressed his hope that the facilities being made available to youth through these initiatives will hone their skills for better future prospects.
He also highlighted the ground work done by Army during various Sadhbhavana activities carried out in Kupwara district.
“Representatives from various State Government departments were also present during the event. The Army extended its gratitude towards the locals for their whole hearted support in making the event a grand success and the youth expressed their hope in capitalising on the plethora of information related to employment that will be a major highlight of these clubs,” the defence spokesman said.
The event was attended by a large gathering of people who have appreciated this gesture of the Army.
