JAMMU, Apr 1:  While alleging that people of many localities of  Jammu city are facing shortage of water, ration and other crisis, former  Minister and  senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla today said that rising inflation coupled with other problems have made the life of people miserable in the State.
While addressing the deputation of women from Model Town (Gangyal)  who expressed serious resentment  over scarcity of drinking water for the last four months due non-repairing of overhead water tank in the area, Mr Bhalla said that not only rising inflation have affected the people but the failure of previous Government  and lack of proper attention by Administration, the general public is suffering badly.  He expressed disappointment that he had made serious efforts for the overhead water tank by managing funds from ADB but unfortunately nothing has been done by BJP-PDP Govt for its maintenance.
The Congress leader slammed the elected representatives for ignoring genuine and basic issues of common men who are moving from pillar to post  for the redressal of their genuine grievances.  He said that soaring prices of essentials and others items have badly affected the common people in the State. The  prices of vegetables and other food items have reached an unprecedented high, making impossible for the common people to prepare their monthly budget. ‘Roti, Kapda Aur Makaan’, are the basic needs of one’s life but with soaring inflation in India, sadly all three necessities are becoming unaffordable day by day. He said that the worst hit are the housewives, whose monthly budget has gone awry due to spiraling price hike of vegetables and fruit.
Former minister said that due to wrong policies of the Central Government, the inflation has gone so high to make difficult the life of a common man.   He condemned the frequent increase in prices of diesel, petrol, cooking gas and the common use commodities. He demanded that the rates of the common use items should be reduced and more job opportunities may be provided to the unemployed.
