Army dedicates ‘Chinar 9 Jawan Club’ to people

SRINAGAR, Apr 1: Army today dedicated another ‘Chinar 9 Jawan Club’ – a multifaceted institute oriented towards providing recreational avenues and skill development opportunities for the local youth – in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
A defence spokesman said the Youth Club was inaugurated by Chinar Corps Commander, Lt General Satish Dua, in presence of prominent citizens, educationists and senior government officials including DDC Baramulla, Yasha Mudgal and SSP Baramulla Imtiyaz Hassan.
“Conceptualized by the Corps Commander himself this Club affords multiple avenues to the youth including Recreational facilities for fun & frolic and Skill Development, in six courses, for future employment,” he said.
While welcoming the large audience, including the youth, the GOC of Baramulla based Army Garrison Major General JS Nain, gave an overview of the Chinar 9 Jawan Club which has been established in a record time of 50 days.
He said skill development in six identified fields like basic computer and information training, computer hardware and peripheral repairs, hospitality services, sales executive training, fashion designing and life skills will be provided at zero cost to the local youth. The Club has an annual capacity to train over 750 youth (boys and girls) of which the first batch of 150 has already been fully subscribed to.
In a distinct first, the skill Development Activities being offered at the Club have been accredited and certified through nationally recognised organisations like National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELITS), National Skill Development Corporation of India (NSDC) and Associated Chambers of Commerce (ASSOCHAM), India.
Another highlight of the function was the award of Training Certificates to 15 youth, who successfully completed the Automotive Training Course conducted by the Army Garrison based at Baramulla in collaboration with the Maruti Suzuki Group, the spokesman said.
Through the efforts of the Army eight youth out of these have also been provided appointment letters as Mechanics in the Maruti Workshops. “Six ‘Veer Naris’ were also given financial aid, arranged by the Dagger Division through the TAJ Group, to meet the educational expenditure of the wards of Army Martyrs,” he said.
“The Chinar Corps Commander also highlighted keen response and participation of the girls in this initiative, which he felt was a strong indicator for a brighter tomorrow,” the spokesman said.
