CJM grants 9 day police custody of accused

JAMMU, Sept 14: Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM), Jammu S R Gandhi today granted nine days police remand of Wajahat Ali Khan, son of Mohd Abdullah Khan of village Dhundak, Surankote, who had cheated the Jammu Rural Bank of more than Rs 9 lakh.
According to the Vigilance case, Satya Paul Sharma, Manager Jammu Rural Bank, Buffliaz Branch, by abuse of his official position and in league with the beneficiaries resorted to manipulation of records and fraudulently sanctioned different amounts of loans to beneficiaries.
The Bank Manager in league with Wajahat Ali Khan (beneficiary) prepared and entertained fake documents to facilitate sanction of Rs 75,000 each as loan in favour of Wajahat Ali Khan and his wife Rukhsana Begum. In processing and sanctioning these loan cases guarantor, Altaf Hussain Shah, (Labourer) was fraudulently shown as a Government employee (Teacher).
The Bank Manager even fraudulently and dishonestly sanctioned loan of Rs 2 lakh in favour of Altaf Hussain Shah despite the fact that loan scheme was applicable to Government/Semi-Government employees only.
Mohd Ismail and Mohd Nayeem Khan, residents of Dundak had not approached concerned bank for sanction of loan of Rs 2 and Rs 1.5 lakh respectively but fake documents were prepared and loan was sanctioned, drawn and subsequently misappropriated. The Bank Manager by resorting to manipulation of records also facilitated sanction of loan of Rs 9.10 lakh for purchase of tipper in favour of Wajahat Ali Khan. However, this amount was not even spent on the purchase of tipper and instead accused public servant in league with others dishonestly facilitated withdrawal of the loan amount in cash from the bank in favour of the beneficiary.
Vigilance Organization today produced Wajaht Ali Khan in custody for police remand of nine days.
After hearing CPO Parshtom Sharma appearing for the VOJ and perusal of the CD file, CJM observed, “the accused was arrested on September 13, 2012 as such his custodial interrogation is required for the investigation”.
Accordingly, Court granted nine days police remand of the accused with the direction to the IO to produce the accused for further orders in the competent court of law on September 22, 2012.
