Political, other organizations resent fuel-price hike

JAMMU, Sept 14: Several political, social, trade, employees and other bodies have strongly resented the diesel price hike and limiting the issuance of LPG cylinders up to six per family per year on subsidized rates by Union Government today.
BJP, BJYM, NPP and several other bodies staged protest demonstration against the UPA-II Government and burnt the effigy of the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh. They alleged that due to this sharp hike the Government has broken the back bone of poor and lower middle class people. This hike has affected every sector including transport and its direct impact is on the general public. The political parties demanded immediate roll back of hike in the diesel and LPG prices.
Activists of Bhartiya Janata Yuva Morha held strong protest demonstration against the fuel price hike at Maheshpura Chowk here today. State president of Morcha, Munish Sharma was leading. The BJYM activists were shouting slogans against UPA, Dr Manmohan Singh and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi. They alleged that Congress-led UPA Government has made life of common man miserable. Several BJYM leaders including Munish, Surinder Choudhary, Sanjay Baru, Vipan Shastri, Bharat Bhushan and others addressed the gathering.
Shiv Sena activists led by its president Ashok Gupta also staged protest demonstration against the UPA Government in the old city here today. The Sena activists raised slogans against the UPA Government and demanded immediate roll back on the price hike of diesel. Mr Gupta addressed the gathering and warned the Government not to invite trouble for it in coming days by resorting to such anti-people decisions.
National Panthers Party leader Bhim Singh also condemned the sharp hike in diesel prices and demanded immediate roll back on the decision. He said UPA Govt is virtually sucking blood of poor people of the country.
NPP workers also held protest demonstration against the price hike at Slathia Chowk, Udhampur today. The party workers led by district unit office bearers started protest march from Adarsh Colony and then after passing through various markets reached Slathia Chowk. They staged protest demonstration against price hike and condemned the anti-people policies of UPA Government. Senior leaders D R Atri, Jagdev Singh, Sunil Paroch , Ram Paul and Sunil Gudda addressed the gathering.
NPP workers led by senior leader from Samba Rajesh Padgotra staged protest demonstration against price hike at Vijaypur today. The party activists led by provincial general secretary, Mr Padgotra shouted slogans against UPA Government and Prime Minister and demanded review of Govt decision.
CPI (M) leader Sham Parsad Kesar strongly condemned the unprecedented hike in the price of diesel and limiting the six cooking gas cylinders on subsidized rates per family. He said the hike in the price of diesel will have a cascading inflationary impact imposing greater burden on the already suffering people. Agricultural sector and farmers will particularly suffer. The limiting of cooking gas cylinder will adversely impact on the lively hood of crores of families in the country.
He pointed out that ONGC declared net profit of 25,123 crore for 2011-12, the IOC profit was Rs 4256 crore during last year, HPCL recorded Rs 911 crore profit while Bharat Petroleum a net profit of Rs 1546 crore. Giving such high benefit to oil companies the UPA Government is committing fraud with Indian people, CPI (M) leader maintained.
Jammu Kashmir Democratic Front (JKDF) women wing activists also held protest against UPA Govt on the issue of price hike of fuel here today. They condemned the price-hike and demanded that Government should announce roll back. Shruti Khajuria, Krishan Lal Gupta, Veenu Khanna and others addressed the gathering.
All J&K Low Paid Employees Federation president Abdul Majid Khan strongly condemned the steep hike in the price of diesel and restricting availability of only 6 cylinders per family per year under subsidized rates. Mr Khan said that this hike will badly hit the low paid employees of the country and the Government should immediately go for roll back of its decision.
