SERC organizes workshop on various provisions of Electricity Act

SAMBA, Sept 14: State Electricity Regulatory Commission in association with Power Development Department (PDD), M&RE Circle and XEn, M&RE, Vijaypur, organized workshop on various provisions of Electricity Act, Electricity Rules and important regulations, J&K Electricity Supply Code, Distribution Performance Standards and recently introduced Voluntary Load Disclosure Scheme (VLDS), here today.
The workshop was presided over by the Deputy Commissioner, Mubarak Singh.
While speaking, DS Pawar, member, SERC, highlighted the importance of the VLDS. He further highlighted the Electricity Act, its preamble and effect on power sector reforms in J&K. He stressed on the need for energy conservation and in this context the Energy Conservation Act was also discussed in detail.
The workshop was attended by a larger cross-section of society including Principals of Educational Institutions, representatives of panchyats, NGOs, Industrial Associations. Besides, members of Civil Society, PDD officers from M&RE Circle, Kathua, XEn Vijaypur, Ravi Kanth Verma, secretary, SERC, VK Sarngal, Superintending Engineer, SERC, Ashwani Gupta, Superintending Engineer, M&RE Circle, Kathua and Ashwani Sachdeva, Executive Engineer, Vijaypur alongwith the AEEs were also present.
