Wet weather continues in Valley

Srinagar, Apr 9: Weat-her continued to remain wet and cloudy in Kashmir valley even as rains have been predicted till Wednesday next week by Meteorological Department.
The rainfall started in the morning hours and continued till afternoon and afterwards clouds dominated the sky in the region. The MeT office said widespread rains are expected on Monday while fairly widespread rains are predicted on Sunday and isolated rains on Tuesday and Wednesday.
“Light to moderate rains would continue to occur occasionally in plains as well as in higher reaches but there is no forecast of heavy rains during these days,” said Director MeT, Sonam Lotus said. He said that intermittent rains would occur in the Valley with occasionally Sunshine as well.
Meanwhile, despite rains, the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway remained open for the vehicular movement. According to an official in the Traffic Police department, the vehicles are being allowed to ply from time to time.
“Authorities will allow Light Motor Vehicles (LMV) coming from Srinagar-Jammu from 5 am to 3 pm while Heavy Motor Vehicles (HMVs) will be allowed to ply from 6 to 1 am,” he said, adding that the LMVs from Jammu to Srinagar will be allowed to ply from 4 to 12.
