JAMMU, Sept 14: Reaffirming Government’s determination to develop border and rural pockets of the State on fast track, Minister for Medical Education, Sports & Youth Services, R S Chib, today said that expansion of enhanced basic amenities with emphasis on road network, education and healthcare facilities to these areas is being prioritized by the present dispensation.
The Minister said this during his day long tour to various border areas of R S Pura where he convened public meetings to take stock of grievances and demands of people.
During the tour, the Minister visited Bera, Raipur, Agrachak, Fatehpur Brahmana and adjoining border areas and assessed status of various development works besides taking stock of public issues.
Addressing public meetings at Raipur, the Minister said that the Government has been endeavouring for the uplift of border and far off areas and reiterated that focused attention is being paid towards equitable development of these areas. “Raising of infrastructure, implementation of welfare schemes and upgradation of health and education are gaining momentum with public participation”, he added.
The demands projected by the people included metalling of Raipur-Saidan to Sangral post road, electric poles and transformer at Sangral, metalling of Raipur to Kotli road and related demands.
The Minister directed the concerned authorities to provide relief to the remaining families whose crops were damaged due to hailstorm at the earliest. He also directed for completion of cremation grounds at Agra Chack and Fatehpur.
At Bera, the Minister directed the BDO to take up work on nallah in the area under MGNREGA besides asking R&B to formulate a project proposal for speedy construction of road from Bera to Shamshan Ghat.
During his visit to Bega, the Minister directed R&B to ensure timely completion of ongoing road constructions besides renovating several dilapidated roads in the area.
Spelling out measures being initiated for development of rural and far-flung areas, Chib said Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has issued specific instructions to all concerned to pay special attention on development of pockets that have not received desired attention in the past so that the mission of equitable development of all the areas is achieved. He said that Panchayat representatives and common masses are vigorously supplementing the efforts of the Government in this regard which reflects their firm faith in the endeavours of the present dispensation. “During the past over three years, the State has witnessed a discernible change in almost every parameter of development”, he added.
