JAMMU, Apr 11: Minister for Revenue, Relief & Rehabilitation Syed Basharat Bukhari today said the Government is committed to redress the grievances of Kashmiri migrants’ and requisite steps are underway to provide them better amenities.
The Minister said this during a meeting convened with the officers of Relief Organisation to review the functioning of the department here today.
Bukhari held extensive discussions regarding relief and rehabilitation of victim of 2014 floods besides Kashmiri migrants, covering aspects related to relief, healthcare, water supply, electricity, ration, education and other basic amenities.
Commissioner Secretary Revenue, Relief & Rehabilitation, Mohammad Afzal, Special Secretary Revenue, Dr Nasir Naqash, Relief Commissioner Migrants Jammu, R K Pandita, Director Finance, Shogufta Qazi besides other concerned officers attended the meeting
To ensure timely supply of monthly ration to migrants under the relief category, the Minister directed the officers concerned to make sure that ration is made available at the sale outlets in the camps by 15th of every month.
Bukhari directed Secretary CA&PD for opening of additional sale outlets in Jagti and other migrant camps to facilitate smooth and hassle-free ration distribution. He also asked to ensure that the weighing machines are made functional at these outlets.
While receiving an appraisal regarding the bifurcation of ration cards of migrant families, the Minister directed simplifying the process and ensuring time bound disposal of these cases after proper verification.
The Minister directed the concerned authorities to immediately take up the matter regarding issuance of Resident of Backward Area certificate (RBA) to the Kashmiri migrants with the Social Welfare Department. He instructed the concerned to ensure that the benefits of welfare schemes like Ladli Beti and AASRA etc reach the Kashmiri migrants.
During the meeting matters regarding direct transfer of salaries to the individual account of the employees appointed under the Prime Minister’s package serving in different departments in the valley was also discussed and the Minister directed the concerned for ensuring timely disbursement of salaries to these employees.
While taking a review of the medical facilities available in migrant camps, the Minister asked Secretary Health and Medical Education to ensure adequate supply of medicines and proper diagnostic equipment at the health centers of Jagti Township and other migrant camps.
Later the Revenue Minister also held a video conference with the Deputy Commissioners of Kashmir Valley and enquired about the status of disbursement of relief among 2014 flood victims.
