JU Law School organizes interactive session with Dy Chief UNHCR Mission

JAMMU, Apr 12: The Law School, University of Jammu held an interactive session for its faculty and the students, with Yasuko Shimizu, Deputy Chief of Mission, UNHCR.
Ms Yasuko apprised the student the essence of the law relating to refugee and the Status of Refugees (‘Refugee Convention’). The session focused on an introduction of International Refugee Law. She emphasized that contemporary refugee problem is global phenomenon and is linked with Human Rights.
Dr Sanjay Gupta, Director The Law School, emphasized that there is need to host seminars, workshops, short courses and other events on the Refugee Law to promote and facilitate cutting-edge research on the protection of refugees and other displaced persons.  He expressed his willingness to host such programmes in collaboration with UNHCR.
