Educational institutions celebrate Baisakhi with traditional fervour

JAMMU, Apr 12: Various educational institutions celebrated the festival of Baisakhi with traditional fervour and gaiety.
The colours of Baisakhi and piousness of Dr Ambedkar Jayanti were reflected in a special morning assembly conducted at GD Goenka Public School, Jammu. The kindergarten children were dressed in Punjabi attire, brought yellow cuisines as their meals and performed on various dance items. The students were told about the origin and value of Baisakhi. The students also learned about the process of harvesting and were taken to the Goenkan field acres to see the crops. Director of the school, Sanya Bansal acknowledged the diligence of students and teachers and congratulated all of them for making the event possible.
KC International School celebrated the festival of Baisakhi. Special assembly was conducted to mark the importance of this festival. A cultural Baisakhi dance was performed by the students. The school choir group also presented a group song. A poem was recited by Manju Gupta. To highlight the importance of the day the talk was presented by Himakshi Wali. The chief guest on the occasion was Vickrant Mahajan, the motivational speaker, who motivated the students towards super positivity yet again spreading the theme “Yes Thank You Universe”.
Keeping up its tradition, MHAC celebrated Baisakhi in a colourful and cheerful manner. Students of Gulab House presented Punjabi Songs and dances in their beautifully coloured dresses carrying the freshly harvested wheat crop bundles. Few students orated the history and importance of Baisakhi. Principal Alok Betab also threw light on the importance of the festival.
Delhi Public School, Jammu organized a special assembly on “Baisakhi” with an amazing thought “Plant the seed of desire in the field of imagination to grow the harvest of Invention”. Aditi-X E and Krrish-IX A of Ganga House hosted the special assembly on the occasion. The middle wing students presented specially composed musical bonanza comprising of songs and dances. The significance of Baisakhi and the various ways by which people celebrate this great harvesting festival all over India was briefed by Chirag-X A. “Bhangra Mitra da” foot tapping dance performance presented by primary wing students was applauded by the audience. Principal DPS, Ruchi Chabra threw light on the importance of the festival. Head Mistress Meenu Gupta and Coordinators were also present on the occasion.
Luthra Public School, Shemrock Angels and Shemrock Icons celebrated Baisakhi festival with zeal and enthusiasms. Anil Chopra, District President, PCC, Jammu Urban was the chief guest. As Baisakhi is a festival of joy and celebrations, students enjoyed it in the same way. Games made students to cheer the most. The tiny tots of Shemrock Angels and Icons also performed cultural features. Principal Sanjeev Luthra emphasized the significance of the festival.
The harvest festival was celebrated at Stephens International Public School, Miran Sahib with full fervour and gaiety. The coloured festival offered variety of mouth watering delicious variety of Indian cuisine. Students were dressed up in colourful attires. Variety of food, toys and games stalls were put up. Director Satvinder Saini, Principal Shibu Mathew and Vice Principal Vikesh Sandhal highlighted the importance of the festival.
Jammu Sanskriti School, Jammu celebrated Baisakhi festival, Dr BR Ambedkar Jayanti and Ram Navami with full enthusiasm. A special assembly was conducted which started with devotional songs, followed by talk on Baisakhi special talk by teacher Sheefali Anthal. Vasu of  class 8th told the children about the importance of Ram Navami and Yuvraj of class 8th threw light life of Dr BR Ambedkar. Activities like poster making and creative writing were also organised. Students were dressed in yellow colour dresses to mark the celebrations of Baisakhi. Principal-cum-Vice Chairperson Rohini Aima motivated the students to celebrate the festival while keeping in mind the spirit and importance of this great day. She also highlighted the great work done by Dr BR Ambedkar.
SM Shishu Niketan Higher Secondary School, Anand Nagar, Patta Bohri, Jammu celebrated Baisakhi, birthday of Dr BR Ambedkar and Ram Navami. Managing Director Parneesh Mahajan, Liaison officer Harvinder Singh Sihotra, Principal Manikarnika Bhasin, Co-ordinator Kawaljeet Kour and staff were present on the occasion. A special Assembly was conducted in which teachers and students delivered speech on the importance of these occasions.
May Fair School branches at Chand Nagar, Janipur and Chinore celebrated Baisakhi festival. Vijay Basir, Patron of the schools was the chief guest, whereas Abhey Basur, Director of the schools presided over the programme. Students presented colourful programme.
RM Public School celebrated Baisakhi festival and birthday of Dr BR Ambedkar. The programme started with ‘Anaj Poojan’ by the chief guest Rameshwar Mengi, Chairman of the school in presence of special guest Rita Mengi, Principal Ravinder Kour, Vice Principal Jasbir Singh and staff members. Students attired in colourful dresses presented cultural programme. The middle and primary wing students presented Gidda and Bhangra.
Jammu Sanskriti School Kathua celebrated Baisakhi with great fervour. Students performed various dances and skits. Some children and teachers expressed their views on importance of Baisakhi. Children of Pre-Nursery to Prep did colouring activity on the worksheets related to Baisakhi. Principal Shuchita Gupta explained to the children about harvesting and apprised them about the importance of the Baisakhi festival.
To commemorate Baisakhi festival, Guru Harkrishan Public School organised a religious programme at Gurdwara Sahib, where Shabad Kirtan, lectures and poems were recited. Inter-school turban tying competition was also held in the school, wherein six schools participated. In junior group, Harjot Singh and Parteek Singh from MMS Indian Public School won first and third prizes respectively, while Sukhvinder Singh of Shiksha Niketan School bagged second position. In senior group, Shildeep Singh of Unique Public School, Ravdeep Singh of Shiksha Niketan School and Davinder Singh of Guru Harkrishan Public School won first, second and third prizes respectively. Manmohan Choudhary, Ex-Mayor was the chief guest, while Rangil Singh, president, Gurdwara Singh Sabha Simbal and Iqbal Singh, Jathedar Social Worker were the judges. Bhupinder Singh, Chairman of the institution, Balbir Singh general secretary and Principal Rita Popli were also present.
Wonder World School celebrated Baisakhi festival with zeal and fervour. Starting from the morning assembly with theme based activities, the day was full of joyous and learning for children. Dressed in typical folk attire, students danced to the tunes of bhangra. The school was decorated with props all around. The teachers taught students about the importance of the festival by doing a finger printing activity on “Happy Baisakhi” work sheets. The day was preceded by a visit to the Gurdwara.
Doon International School celebrated Baisakhi, Dr BR Ambedkar Jayanti and Ram Navmi. The students presented vibrant and colorful programmes depicting all the festivals, followed by speeches. Chairman, GN Tantray, Principal Vikesh Kaur asked the students to celebrate all festivals with great enthusiasm and energy and respect to promote harmony and brotherhood throughout the world.
Students of Shemrock Apple Orchid, Akhnoor celebrated Baisakhi festival. The purpose was to make the students aware about the historical background, significance and relevance of Baisakhi. They were also told about various aspects of rural Punjab, its cultural heritage through tableaux showing the sowing, ploughing, harvesting, winnowing and gathering of crop. Girls who were shown the working on “charkha” and “phulkaari” sang folk songs. A Punjabi folk dance “Sammi” was also presented by the students. Principal Shilpa Mahajan emphasised the significance of the festival.
Little Champs Playway School, New Plot celebrated Baisakhi festival. Students were attired in traditional punjabi and other fancy dresses. Baisakhi celebrations were enjoyed by the children while they dance and presented Bhangra to the live dhol beats and had fun throughout the day. Principal of the school Sonal Abrol apprised the students about the relevance and importance of celebrating this day. Capt Vinay Abrol, School’s Chairperson was also present.
Steppin Stone Playway School celebrate Baisakhi festival. A colorful cultural programme was organized by the students. Students attired in colorful dress and in cheerful mood made the day pleasant. The beats of dhol charged the atmosphere. Students were also involved in grain pasting activities during art session. Principal of the school Anjali Sharma threw light on the importance of the day and its historical significance. Director Vikash Kumar Sharma was also present.
KIDZEE celebrated Baisakhi festival, birthday of Dr BR Ambedkar and Ram Navmi at Anand Nagar Bohri, Talab Tillo, Gandhi Nagar and Channi Himmat branches. Special assemblies were conducted in which toddlers actively participated in dance and song competitions. The facilitators also gave demonstration regarding these special occasions to the kids.
Daffodils Care Convent Pre School, Jain Bazar celebrated Baisakhi festival Children were attired as peasants, looking like typical Punjabis They presented a colourful cultural programme. Many children recited rhymes based on Baisakhi. Few children spoke on the topic “Importance of water for farmers” and conveyed the message to save each drop of water. Children also enjoyed the sponge dabbling activity based on Baisakhi. The main attraction of the celebration was the plantation of seeds by the little ones and their parents. Principle Shikha Puri also threw light on the importance of the day.
The students of British International School Jammu celebrated Baisakhi festival. To mark the importance of this day, the school was dolled up and festooned with a yellow theme and a grand celebration was held in the school. School echoed with fervor and gaiety as the children made beautiful cards and were overwhelmingly beatific with the concept and even wore yellow clothes to mark the occasion.
National Incredible Literacy Mission celebrated Baisakhi festival at its Zonal Head Office at Patel Nagar. On the occasion, students presented various cultural programmes including dance and songs. Rakeshwar Singh, Project Director, NILM highlighted the importance of the day. Events like Giddha and Bhangra were presented by the students. Staff members present included Anil Kumar, Payal Gupta, Preeti Chopra, Sunny Kapahi and Shivani Gupta.
