JTC holds protest rally, demands release of ration

JAMMU, Apr 12: Jagti Tenement Committee (JTC) today organized a protest rally against the indifferent attitude of State and Central Government by withholding three months ration supplies to the Migrants, at Jagti Migrant Camp under the chairmanship of Shadi Lal Pandita, president of the committee.
The protesters raised slogans against the Government and demanded immediate release of ration for the month of February, March and April at an earliest. They said that due to non-supply of ration for past three months the migrants have come to a stage of starvation.
Pandita while addressing the agitating members said that the Migrant community does not come under the purview of NFSA, as the community is living a life in exile as such has demanded that ration as per previous approved scales is required to be released in favour of the migrant community at an earliest to save the lives of these migrants, also enhancement of monthly cash relief to Rs 10000 to Rs 25000 per month per family.
The protesters also expressed their concern over the prevailing situations in NIT Srinagar where students from outside the State were subjected to cane charging. They also raised issue of remaining posts under Prime Minister’s Employment Package and demanded immediate filling of remaining posts under the package.
