Pediatric-Cardiac Surgery Workshop to be conducted at SKIMS Soura

Srinagar, Apr 16: A workshop on Pediatric-Cardiac surgery is being conducted at Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery in collaboration with Departments of Anesthesiology and Critical Care, Cardiology and Pediatric Medicine at Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences from April 18.
A spokesperson of the SKIMS said the visiting team headed by Dr Balram Airan, who is the Professor and Head Cardiac Surgery and Dean Faculty of Medicine, AIIMS New Delhi includes pediatric cardiac surgeon, pediatric-cardiac anesthetic, perfusionist and rest of the supportive staff in critical care and post-operative period.
“The team will be operating high risk patients of complex congenital heart defects in their lower age group during the course of workshop. The organizer of the workshop, Dr. Abdul Majid Dar Professor Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery, SKIMS said that the workshop will boost the pediatric-cardiac surgery set-up in the valley which will in future help the poor and needy patients,” the spokesperson said.
Furthermore, the Director SKIMS EOSG Professor, Showkat Ali Zargar, said that he is keen in developing pediatric-cardiac surgery set-up as a part of diversification of Department of CVTS as in other department of the Institute, the spokesperson added.
