Priya rules out shifting of art treasure

JAMMU, Apr 18: Taking cognizance of Excelsior report regarding art treasure of Jammu being shifted to Kashmir, Minister of State for Education, Culture, Information and Tourism Priya Sethi today said that this treasure will remain in Winter Capital and would not be shifted to any other place.
The Minister who held a meeting with concerned officers of JK Academy of Art, Culture and Languages in her office chamber here, today to discuss the issue urged them to find out suitable place in Jammu for shifting the art treasure of region housed in Kala Kendra at present.
Priya Sethi during the meeting with Secretary Cultural Academy, Aziz Hajni and Additional Secretary Arvinder  Singh Amn told them to find a suitable place somewhere here for preserving the same as early as possible.
The Minister said that no paintings, sculptures, artifacts, wooden works, modern art, Basohli paintings or any work of the artists of the country lying in Kala Kendra will be shifted from Jammu to any other part of the State and there should be no confusion in this regard to any one.
She urged the officers to take immediate steps in finding a suitable place in the Winter Capital for preserving the same. She said as J&K is a sensitive State, the officers should also refrain from making controversial statements which can create trouble later and before speaking to media on such issues they should take the concerned Ministers into confidence.
