Hizb recruiter arrested

Srinagar, Apr 19: Police today said a Hizbul Mujahideen worker, who was involved in the recruitment of the youth, has been arrested from Baramulla district of North Kashmir.
A police spokesman said here that Ghulam Ahmad Sofi alias Jany Baba of Juhama area of Baramulla was arrested along with two live grenades and a satellite phone.
The spokesman said Sofi was involved in recruiting local youth for terrorist activities. “During the course of investigation it was found that he was affiliated with banned terrorist organization Hizb-ul-Mujahideen and was working for the revival and expansion of the banned outfit in the Kashmir valley, particularly in Baramulla. Further investigation in this matter is going on,” he said.
In this regard, a case under FIR number 84/16 under Section 7/25 Arms Act has been registered in Police Station Baramulla, the spokesman added.
